This is the ultimate holiday concert: a klezmerized version of Tchaikovsky’s perennial classic which will delight the whole family. Shirim’s “Klezmer Nutcracker”will make klezmer afficiandos plotz (explode with joy) and Tchaikovsky fans drop their jaws with wonder . It combines the zany wit of a Spike Jones with the class and craft of a Duke Ellington and recasts the Nutcracker as a Hannukah classic with images of a dancing Latkes (potato pancakes) Queen and marching Macabees. This entertaining concert is filled out with other Hannukah related music, an audience participation number, and great holiday spirit!
