In 2004, Shirim collaborated with author/ artist Maurice Sendak to create "Pincus & the Pig," a Jewish version of Prokofiev's "Peter & the Wolf." Mr. Sendak re-wrote the narration, drawing on his family memories, and Shirim re-wrote the music in a klezmer style. The CD was released on the Tzadik label to great acclaim with Mr. Sendak performing the narration and his artwork adorning the cover and booklet. Shirim has perfomed the piece around the country with narrator Fishel Bressler and with local celebrities in the towns of the performances. This piece is best worked into a regular concert series- its sophistication and humor on many levels will entertain adults as well as kids!
