Shirim performs with the Niagara
Symphony Orchestra
Shirim has played with the Philly Pops, the Niagara Symphony Orchestra and the Newton Symphony, delighting the Pops audience with its crossover klezmer/classical arrangements for klezmer band and orchestra.

Featured are “Sam's Shpiel,” almost a klezmer symphony unto itself, and a klezmer/orchestra version of the famous “Romanian Rhapsody.” “Sam's Shpiel” is a klezmer suite which shows the awesome breadth of expression of klezmer music, from the wailing clarinet on the majestic opening doina, to the ecstatic joy of the closing dance movement. The Romanian Rhapsody, familiar to concert audiences everywhere, takes on a new life which will lift the audience out of its seats with excitement. The band’s warp-speed improvisation contained in the arrangement has become legendary for its astounding technical achievement and unabashed joy.
